AY in Whack-a-Player! [ 24 Players ] places 24 cartoon contestants on a narrow arena ledge and lets a giant hammer decide their fate. Press the green flag and the game takes over: everyone shuffles during a ten-second countdown, the hammer searches across the lineup, one character is selected at random, and the unlucky contestant is knocked out. The rounds continue until only one winner remains.
This is a spectator game rather than a traditional whack-a-mole challenge. You do not aim or swing the hammer, and there is no score to build. The appeal comes from choosing a favorite character, watching the random draw unfold, and seeing whether that contestant survives all 23 eliminations.
Created by @Cyanwisp79, this edition expands the inherited lineup from 21 to 24 characters by adding Randy, Blinky, and Hailey.
How the Hammer Tournament Works
Each round begins with the surviving characters moving between random positions while the large countdown runs from ten to zero. That constant reshuffling prevents a character's location from revealing who will be hit.
When time expires, the hammer appears above the stage and sweeps through several possible positions. It then settles over one randomly chosen contestant. The selected character reacts in shock before the mallet swings down with smoke and star effects; the character drops out, while the survivors switch to relieved poses and celebrate before the next countdown begins.
The player-facing controls are deliberately minimal:
| Action | Input | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Start or restart the tournament | Click the green flag | Initializes the 24-character roster and begins the opening sequence |
| Identify a contestant | Move the pointer over a character | Displays that character's name in a speech bubble |
The hover labels are especially useful once the cast bunches together. Characters such as Rulue can otherwise become difficult to identify when taller contestants and overlapping costumes crowd the ledge.
Randy, Blinky, Hailey, and the 24-Character Cast
Randy, Blinky, and Hailey are the defining additions in this version, but they enter on equal terms with the other 21 contestants. The wider roster includes Nama, Fifi, Colton, Cheese Block, QuirkyBunny, Stickman, ZYellow, ZYella, BlueStreak, G-RAY, Ringy, Nanobross, Skylar, Zac, Rulue, SND, Damian, Pyoro, A Despicable Partypooper, Groovy short legs, and Bobuccino.
There is no protagonist or fixed story path. Every character uses the same survival rules, so Randy, Blinky, and Hailey can be eliminated early or become the final winner. Distinct idle, frightened, knockout, relieved, and victory poses give the randomized results more personality than a plain name draw would provide.
The setting stays focused on one blue-and-tan arena. A music banner along the bottom identifies the current track—“Walking in the Sea” appeared during a verified match—while the moving crowd, oversized striped mallet, reaction voices, impact effects, and changing poses supply most of the spectacle.
One Winner, Many Possible Runs
The normal flow has one ending structure, but the identity of the winner changes with each tournament. Once the roster falls to a single survivor, the game moves that character to center stage for a victory sequence with a winner banner, podium presentation, celebratory animation, and confetti.
That randomness supplies the replay value. A full run asks for patience because every elimination repeats the countdown, hammer search, impact, and survivor celebration. There is no in-game decision that can protect a favorite contestant or accelerate the tournament. Players looking for direct action may find the format too passive, but it works well as a colorful prediction game or background elimination show.
The strongest element is the cast presentation. Even though the underlying rule never changes, the custom silhouettes, voices, expressions, and victory poses make each knockout readable. The main limitation is equally clear: after the novelty of rooting for particular characters wears off, the repeated round structure has little strategic depth to replace it.
