[!Mini update!] (Minions) AY in Noggin's RL, GL Game Redux

[!Mini update!] (Minions) AY in Noggin's RL, GL Game Redux is an automated character elimination tournament created by @LaciLorant. Unlike traditional racing games, this Scratch-based project functions as a randomized spectator simulation where 16 contestants compete in a high-stakes "Red Light, Green Light" challenge. Featuring a unique crossover cast of Sprunki characters, Nintendo icons, and Minion plushies, it offers an unpredictable browser-based show that players can enjoy on Fortcade.

How the Competition Works

This project is a fully automated elimination show rather than a controllable game. A match begins with all 16 contestants lined up at the starting line, facing a Noggin-themed referee. The goal for every character is to reach the green finish area on the right without being the last one to arrive.

Rules and Rounds

  • The Green Light: Characters advance at individual, randomized walking paces.
  • The Red Light: The light changes at unpredictable intervals. Every racer must decide whether to stop instantly.
  • The Setback: Anyone caught moving during a red light receives a “Caught!” reaction and is sent back toward the starting line. Notably, being caught is a delay, not an instant elimination.
  • Elimination: The real danger is being the final person to reach safety. The last racer to cross the finish line is eliminated from the tournament with a theatrical knockout animation.
  • The Winner: The cycle repeats across 15 rounds until only one champion remains.

A Large and Unusual Cast

The roster is a visually diverse mix of hand-drawn characters, recognizable mascots, and real-world photographs. The current lineup includes the newly added character Levi, alongside Mario, Luigi, Laci, Zaloy, Oren, Samu Illés, Leveli Gergo, Tamasy Robi, Somogyi Beni, Melegh Levi, Kaivon, Sky, Somfai Dani, Liptovszky Levi, and Liptovszky Laci.

Because of the varying art styles—ranging from vector sprites to Minion plushie photos—the screen can become quite crowded in early rounds. However, each character features custom artwork for every state, including skidding, waiting, and their specific winning or losing reactions.

Soundtrack and Presentation

One of the most impressive aspects of @LaciLorant's project is the massive audiovisual library. The game features 50 different gameplay music tracks, ten end-game themes, and various jingles for draws. Every character has a dedicated set of sound effects for footsteps, catches, and victories.

Because the project contains nearly 268 MB of assets, players should expect a longer initial loading time. Once loaded, the interface provides a clear scoreboard that tracks the current music track, round number, and the number of players remaining.

Verdict

[!Mini update!] (Minions) AY in Noggin's RL, GL Game Redux is less of a game and more of a digital "marble race" style tournament. It is highly structured, featuring surprisingly coherent logic and elaborate theatrical sequences for eliminations.

While it offers almost no direct player interaction, it serves as a great background activity or a prediction game to play with friends. Its greatest strengths lie in its unpredictability and its massive variety of music and character reactions. Those looking for a hands-on racing challenge may find it too passive, but fans of character crossovers and elimination shows will find plenty of charm in this chaotic race.

Evaluation Summary

  • Rules and Logic: 4/5
  • Sound Design: 4/5
  • Visual Variety: 3/5
